Komal Hassamal
Founder of Green Growth Solutions and Senior Climate Finance Expert
She has over 16 years of experience working in the climate change and development – in 28 countries on the African continent across multiple sectors such as renewable energy, transport, agriculture, and ocean. Komal has held leading positions for multilateral organizations – the African Development Bank, United Nations agencies and worked with multiple bilateral donors. She is also a Senior Advisor at TrustWorks Global working on the nexus of climate change and peace building in fragile context.
She is invited to participate and speak in high level conferences, such as the London School of Economics during the Africa Summit (March 2022), A guest speaker for the Africa Leadership University MBA Programme (March 2022), and represented the AfDB at the Africa Smart Mobility Conference (October 2022) on her experience on climate change issues, planning, data and finding opportunities on how to mobilize financing.
She is committed to contribute in simplifying access to climate funds and ensuring the right development finance flows to the most in need. She is passionate about sustainable development, gender equity and positively impacting people’s lives.
Education
Komal holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne et Université Paris-Dauphine and a Postgraduate in Investment Appraisal and Project Management from the University of Bradford. She is a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance from Frankfurt University School of Finance & Management and has received Training on Climate Change from Cambridge University Programme for Sustainability Leadership.
